The Club was formed in 1997, taking over the role of coordinating Clay Target Shooting from the old NSW Police Gun Club. The membership fluctuates – at the present time we have 23 members, that are retired and serving NSW, AFP  and Victorian Police . We also have members who are ex customs and other services as well as family members.

The local event is the NSW Police Games, which sees regular competitors from the NSW Police Force and emergency services, with a strong contingent of family members competing.

Nationally the Club competes in the Australasian Police Clay Target Championships, which are held in various states of Australia (each year a different state is selected). The Championships will soon be held in New Zealand. For some years one member of the Club has traveled regularly to compete in the World Police and Fire Games. Those Games were held in Adelaide in 2007.

In 2009 the World Police & Fire Games were held in Vancouver, Canada. Four members John Elfes, Rick Mathers, Matt Dwyer and Ian Davis competed and were all part of the Australian Police Team. The team scored an international first for a combined Australian Police Team, winning bronze medals for the Team events in Skeet and Sporting Clays. The next Games will be in Fairfax, Virginia this June and we hope to see these men and more contest the medals.
