Formed in 1991, with their first competition that same year in Brisbane at the ANZ Games (now known as the AP&ES Games), the NSW Police Hockey Club aim to give NSW Police Force employees interested in playing hockey the opportunity to play in teams which are entered into events such as the NSW Police Games (annually in March), Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games (held biannually) and the World Police & Fire Games (held biannually).

The Club encourages people of all levels to get involved in either our men’s, women’s or mixed teams, which have allowed members to compete in every police and emergency services competition held over the past 30 years.

In recent times the NSW Police Hockey Club has competed in the AP&ES Games events in Gold Coast (2002), Perth (2004), Adelaide (2005), Coffs Harbour (2008), Tasmania (2010) and Wellington (NZ) (2012). Melbourne 2014 is just around the corner.

Four of the members of the club were selected in the men’s and women’s Australian Emergency Service Team which played against a New Zealand Team in Wellington (NZ).

In 2013, four of the members were selected in the men’s, women’s and mixed Australian Emergency Service Teams and travelled to Belfast, Ireland to compete in the World Police & Fire Games. The women’s and mixed teams claimed the gold, with the men’s team bringing home the bronze. Well done to all!

The NSW Police Hockey Club enters competitive teams in what can be tough competitions both at a state, national and international level, however, this is always combined with a strong social side. We accommodate all skills levels, from elite players to those who only pick up a stick once a year to attend any of our competitions. Everyone is welcome. We often say “We only have to get you away once” because after experiencing one of our trips away for the first time, we know you’ll be back.

In 2016, the Club will travel to the Sunshine Coast, Qld for the AP&ES Games. The NSW Police Hockey Club will be entering teams in the men’s, women’s and mixed competitions for the event.

The Club Membership fee is $20.00 per person per annum.

Some of the results received so far at the Australasian Police & Emergency Services Games are –
2004 AP&ES Games Perth – Men’s (Gold), Women’s (Silver), Mixed (Silver),
2005 AP&ES Games Adelaide – Mixed (Gold),
2008 AP&ES Games Coffs Harbour – Women (Silver), Mixed (Silver).
