The NSW Police Games were first conducted in 1984 and have become an important annual Police sporting event, which attracts more than 1,200 competitors each year. There is no doubt as to what these Games stand for.

Camaraderie, Esprit d’Corps and Fellowship is solidly forged through long hours of training and determined competition on the day. Of course, associated with all that are the immeasurable benefits that flow to individuals and organizations through physical fitness that is developed by all who participate.

The NSW Police Games are held annually, usually in March at venues throughout the Sydney Metropolitan Area, however in 2015 the Games for the first time in their 31 year history are being moved to a regional area – Wollongong. The Games involve some thirty plus different sports, and is an event staged by the NSW Police Council of Sport and affiliated Sports Clubs for the Policing and Emergency Services community.

The Games are not restricted to Police (sworn and unsworn) and Public Service officers but also include the Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service, Australian Protective Services, Australian Federal Police, Customs, Department of Corrective Services, Sheriffs Department, State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service as well as retired and family members of these organizations. Invitations are also extended, depending on the sport, to the Army, Navy and Air Force, enabling the NSW Police Games to reach and involve the broader community.
